The metal back case style has SUPERIOR thermal properties compared to the "TF" plastic package. National's documentation DOES NOT cearly convey this fact.

If you want the best, stay with the metal case.
Use no insulators and bolt the part directly to heat sink.
Use separate heat sinks for each part.
Anything less than this is a compromise.
