Tektronix Application Note: "FM Broadcast Measurements Using the Spectrum Analyzer"
I'm going to break our rule about playing the "x number of pages in a y sized file" game again and tell you that the very high res scan of this is 24 pages in a file size of 398MB. The file size is extraordinarily large because the majority of these pages do contain photographs, many of spectrum analyzer screen details. This document is scanned to a resolution such that you can see the minute details of the specan traces that you'd see in the original if you used a magnifying glass. Please be aware that this document is locked against editing, which is something we seldom do with the very high resolution versions of our manuals but are required to do by the consignor of some Application Notes. However, please be assured that there are no shareware begging letters or other such faults in the document.
Two PDFs of the Application Note are provided, in two resolutions. One is:
Text-only pages scanned at 300dpi
Pages with photos at 800dpi 256 shade grayscale with contrast individually adjusted in prescan(s) of every page
And it's well-bookmarked and hyperlinked.
You also get our usual second scan, which is done in resolutions that vary depending on individual page content, but are never higher than needed to produce a useable quality, quickly navigable file that will do the job without consuming more time and resources than are needed.
Here's the info the SpecAn Wizards at Tektronix packed into this small number of pages:
I. Introduction: The Stereophonic Spectrum
II. Equipment Performance Measurements:
A. Frequency: carrier, subcarrier and SCA
B. Modulation and Deviation: carrier, subcarrier,
D. Intermodulation: Transmitter
E. Crosstalk Using Program Material
H. Antenna, Filter, and Feedline Testing
This document was written with the 7000 series Spectrum Analyzers in mind, and there is also a great deal of conceptual data that applies to any and all Spectrum Analyzers. To date the item, specific equipment mentioned in the text includes 7000 series mainframes, the 5L4N and 7L12 Spectrum Analyzer Plugins, the 7K11 CATV Premplifier, the DC508A Frequency Counter, 5A15N and 7A15A Amplifiers, SG502 Oscillator, and etceteras. There are nice details such as constructing de-emphasis filters, equipment matching pads and etceteras, as well.
It should be stated that this document is from circa 1981, so any statement in it regarding FCC requirements should be checked against more modern FCC rules before application.
