These are rare SDL-7630 Laser Diode Tapered Amplifiers. They can generate 1/2 Watt of 670nm single mode laser light from a low power input beam injected into the back of the facet (seed laser). With these you can build a MOPA or "Master Oscillator Power Amplifier" laser. Or use them as replacement parts in your existing MOPA laser.
These were incredibly expensive, and the "C" mount tapered amplifier chip with no seed laser still sells for over 10K. So if these function fine, you have bought over $20K worth of amplifiers for a tiny fraction. I have had them for a few years as I thought they may come in handy for my Holographic purposes down the road. I have decided not to go the MOPA or ECDL route.
