Here's your chance to get a beautiful HP 8590B with Tracking Generator for less than the cost of a Tracking Generator! This 8590B has been my personal Spectrum Analyzer, and it is in excellent condition all around. Its best feature is the tracking generator, originally a $4900 option, that allows you to use the Analyzer for Frequency Response Analysis. For example, see the photo that shows self-resonance of a toroidal inductor. Another photo shows the series and parallel resonances of a 10MHz crystal. You can also use this instrument as a Power Oscillator or Sweep Generator. Another example: I calibrated my Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) by sweeping its input with the Tracking Generator while monitoring its output with the Spectrum Analyzer input. The last photo shows the results of the latest CAL for both Analyzer and Tracking Generator. Note the very small numbers in the 'Error' column.

I will also provide VB6 sourcecode for a handy Windows driver for this instrument that I developed myself. This app makes it easy to control the instrument from a PC, upload and downlaod traces, display multiple traces on the PC, etc.
