New laser diode 808NM, 8 watt, single emitter, fac lens

Here is a NEW Coherent 8+ watt, 808nm laser diode with a fast axis collimating lens. This is a single emitter, not a bar with 19 or more emitters. I did not get any specifications with these, but like every laser diode we sell, it is carefully tested and characterized as shown below.
Here is a better shot of the FAC corrected output. The fast axis divergence is reduced to <2 degrees while the slow axis is about 10 degrees. The output looks dim red, but my digital camera renders it as white.
8W in that small beam is incredibly powerful and therefore quite dangerous. It can set fire to things or damage vision at quite a distance. It is critical that you use savety goggles rated for use at 808nm when working with this.
Here is a shot looking into the emitter with the diode running at 50mA (way below threshold to avoid destroying my digital camera) showing the single emitter output.
This would be an idea pump laser for a high power green DPSS system. A well designed system based on this could produce 1W or more of 532nm. The FAC lens will greatly simplify the design. I have a very small number of these incredible diodes available!
* Package: Conduction Cooled Package (CCP)
* Dimensions: 10.7mm wide, 25.4mm long, 10mm tall (emitter height approx. 8mm)
* Center Wavelength: 808 (±3) nm
* Slope Efficiency: >1.0 W/A
* FWHM beam divergence: 10 degrees parallel, <2 degrees perpendicular to junction
* Operating Current (8W): <9A
* This laser diode must be attached to a heat sink if before it is powered. Failure to keep the diode cool will dramatically reduce it's operating lifetime and may permanently damage it.
* The output of this laser diode is nearly invisible. Don't let this fool you - it is powerful enough to set things on fire and can cause burns and permanent eye damage. You should always wear appropriate safety goggles when working with high power laser devices such as this.
