Pwm regulator for lumileds superflux s-flux leds

Yes, I'm azdave from HIDPlanet. After seeing many people attempting LED tail light retro-fits and the frustrations they were having in sourcing parts and building the proper voltage regulators and pulse width modulators to do a top-notch job, designed a kit to put all of these needs into one package.
I designed the Opti-Drive pulse width modulator and voltage regulator as a solution for those wishing to create their own custom LED taillights for automotive applications. It can be used for other projects like case mods, robots, etc. but it is mainly geared towards automotive taillights. If you love to work with LEDs and are considering making your own LED taillights for your car then here is a great solution to safely power and correctly dim the LEDs just like factory LED taillights are done.
The kit includes all the parts needed to build your own voltage regulated pulse width modulator (PWM) including heat sinks with stand-off hardware, heat sink grease, screw terminal inputs and outputs as well as pre-printed wire labels and tie-wraps to identify and bundle your wires.
Included is a full pdf assembly manual with detailed photos such as this one below.
This kit uses many quality components not typically found in other PWM kits. Rarely will you find a PWM board with a built in regulated circuit. Not only that but I intentionally used special low-loss regulators that easily outperform the normal 7812 or LM317 regulators seen in most applications. These regulators also lower the parts count since they require no external parts to switch the load.
This module requires 12.8 VDC input to output a full regulated 12VDC output (based upon the input). The user can adjust the duty-cycle (brightness) of the LEDs using the precision 15-turn potentiometer. No presets are used so you can precisely fine tune to your desired marker light settings. The convenient pilot LEDs on both output channels give you a visual indication of the marker light brightness setting without having to install LEDS on the output until you are ready.
This module uses standard inputs from your vehicle wiring. No extra blocking diodes are required to protect your vehicle from accidental back feeding. The input and output use quality screw terminal blocks instead of just a few holes in a board that require soldering inside the vehicle trunk. Using quality LEDs like Lumiled's Red/Orange SuperFlux LEDs at 70 mA drive current this module can drive up to 224 LEDs. If you use standard high flux LEDs that are driven at 20 mA you can power up to 800 LEDs. The max output of the kit is 4 amps (2 amps per channel) at 12 VDC.
I usually have a good supply of genuine Lumileds Superflux LEDs. Contact me to add on to your purchase. Currently I have amber Superflux LEDs as well as the red/orange mentioned above in the bonus offer. I also stock Sharp low-loss regulators in both 12 and 9 volt versions.
This diagram shows the simple layout required for vehicle with combined Marker/Brake/Turn functions like many US made vehicles.
The next three diagrams are suggestions on three different way to use this module on vehicles with dedicated, separate turn signals.
Below is Option #1 to power vehicles that use separate turn signals.
Below is option #2 for vehicles with separate turn signals. I sell the parts for the optional voltage regulators if you would like to use this option. You can supply your own parts or not. The voltage regulator on the turn signals is optional but recommended.
Below is option # 3 for vehicles with separate trun signals. This option requires 2 kits but is the cleanest and simplest install.
This module will give your LED marker lights that special high-speed flicker that you usually see on high-end OEM LED taillights. It also allows you to precisely adjust the marker light brightness without having to change resistors used in your LED taillights.
Pre-built, tested, ready-to-use modules are available with a longer lead time for an additional $20 I also offer a 9-volt output version. Be sure to specify if you want the 9-volt option.
This module is intended for off-road and show use only.
