There is a switch on top shown in second photo. On the back there are 2 wires and one may have been cut to this switch. The previous owner must have used the switch for something that required splicing the wire. Overall good microphone handset but will have some scuffs / scratches. The hang up cradle switch may be taped down and you can remove tape if you desire. This was used in bus transit service.
