CNC Precision Machined Anvils and Upper Wheel.
"NOWELD" SERIES UPPER STARTER WHEEL
So you want to make an English Wheel but just can't afford putting out the Big Bucks or you don't need a Hardened Upper because your making simple Patch Panels, or working with Aluminum, Copper, Bronze, Brass or any other Soft Material. Well we've never sold a Set a Cheap Set of Wheels, but for the money and the right Application these are a cheap way to get into Wheeling.
Ok Guys I answer the same questions a lot so here's the heads up on Yokes for these Wheels.
1) We do sell the Yokes for these.
2) Lowers are $80.00 and hold 2x2's or 2x3's
3) Uppers are Quick Lifters($214.00) or Standard Style($91.00)
No other English Wheel Manufacturer guarantees a minimum runout like we do!
You may wonder if runout critical? The answers can be found on
If you don't want to go there I'll tell you. Runout is very crucial to how your machine functions. If you have a weak machine that "flexes" then runout may not be so bad, but the flex is very bad because it causes your wheels to lose alignment. On a rigid Machine(best case scenario) runout can only be compensated by extreme pressure on your machine. Extreme pressure is no good for many reasons...It causes you to overstretch your panels which casues distortion, and it's very hard on the mechanical components such as lead screws, cradles, welds, Bearings, and so on. With a well built rigid Machine it's amazing just how little pressure it takes to start shaping your panels.
After you have made your panel you will want to do a "WashOut". A Washout will save you so much work! This is done by using the largest possible contact keeping in mind the radius or "form" on your panel. Gently bring the Upper and Lower Wheels to where they just touch your panels surface, then simply work the panel back and forth through your Machines Wheels. This Process will blend your high and low spots making for an Extremely beatifull panel when completed.
I was looking around and found that many Manufacturers of Anvils not only don't gaurantee their runout, they also don't list what their Wheels are made from!
This Upper is Machined from a Caster, it's dimensions are 2 Inches Wide and 6 Inches Round. This Wheels material is Grey Iron, it's Tough and Highly capable of Shaping Metal. In the Photo's I'm Shaping a Fender for a Custom Trailer to be pulled behind a '55 Merc. The Panel is not your average 19 Gage(.0418) material it's 16 Gage(.0598) Just like the Old School Rods were made from. Please keep in mind this Wheel is Not for going over any welds. Going over a weld may cause an impression on this Wheel. Impressions once on any Wheel will be "printed", or "stamped" on your panel every pass. This Wheel measures 2 1/2 Inches wide on it's work surface and 3 Inches wide at the Centerline. The Bearings in the Upper Wheel are ¾ Inch Diameter.
Lower Anvils Measure 2 Inches Wide and 2 Inches Round:
Axles are 3 Inches long and 3 are included.
2 3/8's with 1/8th contact (High Crown)
5.0 with 5/16th's contact (Medium Crown)
12.0 with 7/16th's contact (Low Crown)
Every Corner is Radiused on our Anvils and Upper Wheels, NO SHARP EDGES HERE otherwiswe you invite lines to your panels! Every Anvil has been polished and the contacts have beautiful transitional radius's to create perfect panels free off pinch lines that come from Wheeling!
