1. Why is the emulator speed important?
The maximum of XDS510's speed is about 60KB/s or so. For those with a USB interface, the speed is even much lower. Some have a speed less than 10KB/s. For a small program, this is tolerable. However, for a large project, using a slow emulator can be a developer's nightmare. For example, for a program of 3MB, this emulator downloads in about 10 seconds, whereas a slow XDS510 may take 10 minutes.

3. Is this emulator really faster than others as claimed?
Yes. Many USB XDS510 emulators are very slow. Some ISA/PCI XDS510 and Spectrum Digital's USB XDS510 are fast. But this one is even much better than them. And actually, we are developing a new design right now. It will outperform even the XDS560 eventually.
