This is a rotary vane air pump, model 0211, made by Gast Mfg. Corp. of Benton Harbor, MI. There is no model number on the pump, but it matches the 0211 pumps in the Gast catalog. I disassembled the pump following Gast’s instructions (the pump is surprisingly simple), and cleaned it internally. I checked the end clearance, and it is within specs. There is some light scoring on the end of the rotor, but it displays as discoloration, and can’t be felt with the fingers. I reassembled it with some medium weight machine oil, and it runs nicely, smooth and quiet. Judging from the reaction of the pump, this pump was designed for pressure, not vacuum, as it bogs down a little when the inlet is plugged. Neither of the pressure gauges works. The filter element in the outlet filter was damaged, and I discarded it.
